How last minute? Very last, like come on, people are showing up? If so I wouldn't bring them anything and say thanks anyway. If you did wanna go, nothing major. Just something small like chips and dip. Anymore last minute than that (a day or so) then you have time to prepare anything you want.
Get some good tomatoes and some fresh mozzarella. Slice both, lay them in layers on a plate, salt and pepper each layer, and put some fresh chopped basil on each layer. When you've got them all on the plate, just a little olive oil and some red wine vinegar (very little vinegar) over it all. Best dish of the party.
Take some cream cheese and put the blocks on a plate. Pour shrimp cocktail all over them. Put a bowl of crackers or pita chips beside them . We call it Monkey Brains and it is delicious and takes all of 5 minutes to prepare.

Deviled eggs are quick, simple, and cheap. It's hard to fuck them up and you've probably got everything in the house now to do it. Go with the jumbo eggs since they will give you more yolk to work with. The filling with your yolks will start with mayo and mustard. Add some relish or pickle juice if you want. Yolk and tartar sauce is about the same. A drop of Worcestershire will give some zing. You want to get fancy? A small thin slice of smoked salmon on top will make you look like Wolfgang Puck.
