Ombre Puff Quilt Tutorial

This is honestly one of the best and clearest quilting tutorials I’ve seen. You made it seem so attainable. Thank you!!

Super instruction, not rushed and detailed. Between this video and the printed pattern I think I can do it!

I first watched this 72 hours ago, and already have 134 puffs made in purples, blues and greens... Ooops. Because I didn't have enough half finished quilt projects.

I appreciate the way you mitered the corner of your quilt, and that you made it the same way as your grandmother made it.

Very smart the old fashion way of quilting with ties is great if it was good for your grandma it’s great for you. You’ll think of grandma every time you use your quilt.

Wow. I love your puff quilt. It's my favorite color combo as well. My grandma made quilts and my mom makes quilts. They passed their love of crafty and sewing onto me. Isn't it so awesome to carry on that tradition and add your own modern twist. I do the same. One of these days I plan to tackle a quilt like this. I have a bunch of flannels that I think would make a very cozy Puff Quilt.

I just finished my first puff quilt. The top was complete before I stuffed the puffs by cutting open the bottom layer, stuffing and using fabric fusion tape and a patch to close them up again. I also used a five inch on a four inch for a loftier puff. It's so warm I have to leave the window open to sleep!

I am making this for my sister birthday because she has always wanted one. I thought it would be so hard but you explained it so well.

Very impressive! I love the simplicity with which you explain each step.

I bet this would be even warmer and cozier stuffed with wool fleece 2nd cuts not good for spinning… Though you would have to be very careful about washing it so as to not felt it inside the quilt. If you’re pretty far north and looking for that extra warmth probably best to just buy super wash roving. (meant for spinning sock yarn, it does not felt when washed like normal wool.)

Absolutely stay with the way your grandmother did her tying. The ladies from years ago new how to quilt. The old way doesn’t need to be twisted around as if these new quilters have a better way of doing everything. We have quilts still around from 100 years ago. So our wonderful grandmother new the best way to quilt

I love your fabric choices! That is my biggest problem, I rely on other quilts that I see to make my color choices because I don't feel adequate in choosing my own colors

What kind of batting would you recommend if I want to use the quilt as a sort of blanket? I have very thick quilt batting but I'm thinking it may be too thick.

Does the stuffing clump up when you put it in the washer? And if you want a lighter quilt, should you skip the batting or what is the lightest option?
